To home tan your rabbit, skin your rabbit,flesh the skin meaning remove as much leftover meat as you can from the hide,tack the hide to a board pull it tight to avoid to much srinking coat the hide liberaly with salt wait about 2 hours and scape off the salt then reapply let it sit for about 12 hours. You can tan your own I would not suggest that you do the cost of the materials you need to do a good home tan will be far more than buying a few tanned hides.
